Life's Better with a Weta!

Unlike other dinghies, the Weta is the boat everyone can use  - in almost any conditions - all in the one compact, easy package.

Fun

The Weta is a very social boat.  So while we are serious about design, craftsmanship, and the materials we use, the objective is fun.

Even if you’re racing your Weta in serious competitions, we want to make sure you’re enjoying yourself.

And if you want to introduce kids – or an
yone – to the joys of sailing, a Weta is the perfect boat. Deliberately crafted for stability and versatility, the Weta is easy to sail with the family. The kids feel safe, and they learn the most important thing about sailing: that it’s loads of fun!

Fast

One of the greatest feelings when you’re out on the water in a Weta is exhilaration. Everyone loves to go fast! An excellent sea boat, a Weta is built for speed.

And it’s built from lightweight, high tech materials, meaning a Weta is sturdy, stable, but light, ensuring even in gentle winds this beautifully balanced and responsive boat can get some sensational speeds up while still giving you complete control.

With a bit of a breeze on you can reach speeds of 20 knots but without the knife-edge drama of other performance dinghies. Now that’s some serious fun.

Easy

One of the driving aims when designing the Weta was to build it from materials that were robust, but lightweight, so that a Weta could be assembled, sailed and rigged easily by one person. The simple but clever custom beach trolley and 6kg, two-piece mast make moving, launching, rigging and storing a Weta a breeze!

The fun bit – getting out and fast on the water – is easy, too, with the boat designed for ease of handling whether you’re a seasoned skipper or an enthusiastic novice. The three-sail design, boomless rig and minimum control lines mean you can make the most of the wind single-handed, and even with the family on board, you can tack like a monohull but speed like a multihull, with absolute ease. And if you sail solo, there's a self-tacking jib kit available which allows anyone to tack and gybe like a pro - even those with limited mobility.

When you’ve had all the fun you can take, everything packs down quickly and easily and stores on a surprisingly small footprint.

Family Friendly
Unlike other beach dinghies, the Weta is a boat the entire family can enjoy because it's so stable.  Sail together using the comfortable wide trampoline area. Use it to teach and involve the kids in sailing,  Or go for a burn on your own. You can do it all with a Weta which provides high performance without fear of capsize and has a capacity of 240 Kgs - enough for 3 adults or a bunch of kids.

Senior and Sailability Friendly
Why should kids have all the fun?

In most dinghies you quickly get tired when the wind gets up, but the Weta is lightweight, comfortable, safe and easy to sail - whatever your ability or mobility. But it's still fast enough to be exciting.
It has been approved for the World Masters Games and Paralympics - and masters Weta owners have even completed marathon events over 300 miles (650 Kms).

 Compact storage
The Weta packs down to the footprint of a Laser (4.4m x 1.7m) on its custom fit, lightweight beach trolley.  So it's easy to keep in your garage or the boat park. And  as it only weighs 120Kg, it can easily be towed by a family car.

Picture

Quick & Easy Setup
Lightweight and simple - rig and launch by yourself in 20 minutes without effort. It comes with everything you need including the launch trolley. The colour co-ordinated ropes and sails make rigging quick and easy.

One Design Racing
The Weta has an active base of racing fleets around Australia and across the world for both solo and two-crew racing. And unlike many dinghies, it's a one-design boat made with modern, robust components and sails - so there's no need to keep spending a fortune each season to keep up. And the incredible performance means it's at the front of the fleet in handicap racing.

Picture

Professional quality manufacturing
Unlike rotomoulded plastic beach dinghies, the Weta is hand-crafted using the latest lightweight foam core materials to create a precision fit, and uses carbon fibre for strength and durability for the mast, rudder, daggerboard, float arms and bowsprit. Manufacturer, Xtreme Sailing Products based in Singapore, is one of the top 3 sailing dinghy manufacturers worldwide.

Picture

Speed when you need it
The furling gennaker is the Weta's secret weapon: Unfurl it for downwind speed up to 20 knots but then quickly furl it for control in the gusts. Or use it in light winds as a "Code Zero" genoa - so you can keep moving when other boats are stationary.

Custom Colours
Standard colours are light grey, white, blue, orange and yellow but if you want  to stand out from the crowd, any colour is available from the Nuplex gelcoat range.

Sails for every wind strength
Redesigned by North Sails in 2017, the bi-radial cut mainsails provide manageable high performance in all conditions. The Standard 8.3 Sail is great for beginners or strong winds. The Square Top 9.3 Sail gives more speed in light winds and effortless power up to 20 knots. A larger gennaker, furling jib and smaller mainsail are available for even more flexibility.

The best equipment and innovation
Weta only uses parts from leading marine manufacturers such as North Sails, Ronstan, Harken, Liros Ropes and Kilwell Fibretube.
The new self-tacking jib makes tacking even easier.
